True Fiction

There's a fine line between what is true, what is almost true, and what is fiction in the media today and the general public is never entirely sure what category each piece of information they attain from media falls into. We like fiction we like non-fiction but we don't like being decived to think something is the other...

exhibit A:
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey

Was sold as a memoir of Frey's time in rehabilitation. Oprah "LOOOOOOVVEEDDD ITTTT" she put it in her fancy little (huge) book club, and hence everyone in America "LOOOOOOVVEEDDD ITTTT" as well. That book loved that bestsellers list like Samson loved Delialah....then....TRUTH. After months and months of adamitly stating that every word of his "memoir was 100% true people with way too much time on their hands discovered that some of the book's events could not have happened the way they had been portrayed in the book. So....this is when James Frey got fried. Lies Lies Lies thats all we heard for months. Oprah got mad (who is I think the last person ever you want to have mad at you) his "memoir" became "semi-autobiographical" and basically the shit hit the fan for Frey.

we don't really care whats truth or what's fiction but we want to know for sure one way or the other.
